Chemical Health Programs
Through the Chemical Health Programs, Lao Family works to reduce and prevent the use and abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs in the Hmong community.
Programs include:
- Learning to Live Again is a recovery maintenance program for Hmong adults who have completed chemical dependency treatment. Most often this treatment has been needed because of opium addiction. The program includes structured, staff-led groups and groups led by clients who have received group leader training. The groups explore topics such as relapse prevention, shame, self- esteem, emotional and physical coping skills, family violence, crisis intervention, and general healthy living. Staff are available to provide support and counseling for clients and their families.
- Rule 25 - Chemical Use Assessments are conducted for Hmong youth and adults according to state guidelines to determine what level of treatment may be needed.
