Employment Program
Lao Familys Employment Program focuses on ending clients dependency on public assistance and assisting them in attaining self-sufficiency. It provides employment-related assistance to individuals who have lost their jobs, received notice of lay-offs, were terminated due to a plant closings, or were self-employed (including farmers and ranchers) and are now unemployed due to the economic conditions of the community.
Services include:
- Job search training includes resume writing, interview skills, labor market information, assistance in contacting potential employers and securing job leads.
- Clerical support for job searches includes printing and copying of resumes and cover letters and providing phones and computers for client use.
- Low-income clients may be eligible for financial assistance to cover costs of tuition and books, tools, uniforms and safety shoes, and childcare, transportation, and rent.
